The Fort Calhoun baseball team's season came to a close Thursday after a loss in the opening round of the Class B-1 district tournament in Hastings.

The Pioneers (7-11) lost 8-1 to Omaha Concordia (11-11).

“We just couldn't get on track the whole game,” Fort Calhoun coach Roy Prauner said. “Definitely a bit frustrating since I know we can play better.”

Senior Jake Seina and junio Ty Hallberg led the Pioneers with two hits each. Senior Justin Myer scored Fort Calhoun's lone run.

While it wasn't how he wanted to see the season come to a close, Prauner felt that the Pioneers improved as the year went on.

“We had some pretty good individual seasons as well as the team overall. They are a good group of kids and are fun to coach,” he said.
