AHS, BHS and FCHS compete at Ashland Golf Club

Norris dominates invite, but Blair shoots Washington County low

The Norris Titans dominated the Bob Simpson Invite on April 10, finishing with just 283 strokes across 18 holes at Ashland Golf Club.
The Titans — led by Carson Thurber's 67 — won the tournament by 15 swings, topping both Bennington and Lincoln Christian, who finished with 298 apiece.
Coach Ross Udey's Blair squad, meanwhile, led the Washington County contingent with 388 strokes for 17th overall. Fort Calhoun was 18th with 399 swings and Arlington finished with 437 for 19th.
Bears senior Bode Soukup earned 31st out of 92 golfers overall, but led Washington County with 81 strokes. He finished with three birdies and shot par on four more of the 18 holes played.
BHS' Connor Wayman sunk two shots for par, finishing with 94 swings, while Rylan Blattert carded a 106 in his season debut. Degan Dresden shot a 107 and Justin Bird finished with 110 strokes, too.
Owen Miller, meanwhile, shot an 18-hole 86 to lead coach Dustin Humphrey's FCHS squad. He birdied hole No. 1 and shot par on eight holes overall, finishing in the top-50 — 49th.
“I thought it was much better than last week,” Humphrey said, commenting on his top golfer's day. “This is where he should be, and still left a couple of opportunities out there, so he was looking good.”
Jayden Miller added 99 Pioneer strokes, while Adam Elofson carded 106. Beau Ruma and Caden Newman finished with 108 and 116 swings, respectively, too.
Arlington's Jacob Meehan also birdied hole No. 1 in Ashland, placing 54th overall with an 87. He shot par on Nos. 8, 11 and 12, too.
Tyler Anthofer had the Eagles' second-lowest score, totaling 100 strokes, while Hunter Wallace finished with 119. Nate Erwin carded 131 attempts, too.
Coach Landon Walkenhorst's AHS lineup was to play Gretna East on Monday and next competes 9 a.m. today at River Wilds Golf Club. Bennington hosts the 22-team tournament, but the Blair Bears will play their home course as well.

Pioneers play in Leigh, too
FCHS, which will also compete 9 a.m. today at River Wilds, had a second lineup of golfers compete April 10 at Club 91 Golf Course in Leigh.
The Pioneers — led by Korbin Klein — finished 12th with 496 strokes, while first-place David City notched 332. Klein shot an 18-hole 117, while Gavin Barnes carded 119 swings. Aiden Garbers totaled 124 swings and Adriana Hernandez had 138.
Senior Leah Klabunde participated in the event as well.
