The Blair boys wrestling team earned second Saturday during the NSAA Class B State Dual Championships in Kearney.
The Bears beat Hastings (31-28) and Bennington (33-30) before a 39-25 loss to Omaha Skutt in the finals. Both the first round and semifinal duals came down to the final match, which was won both times by Thomas Chikos.
Against the Badgers, Chikos’ 6-5 decision win was one of five victories to end the dual by BHS. Brock Templar, Yoan Camejo, Blaise Baughman and Kaden Sears also contributed to the comeback from a 30-12 deficit.
The Bears next compete in district competition next Friday and Saturday in Ogallala.

AHS, BHS girls compete at districts
Both the Arlington and Blair girls wrestling teams competed Friday and Saturday in Fremont during the District 1 Tournament.
There, Blair’s Abigail James became the first-ever and only Washington County wrestler to qualify for the NSAA Girls State Championships.
The Bears finished 11th as a team, while the AHS Eagles were 19th.
