SUBDISTRICT UPDATE: FCHS, AHS girls advance with victories

The Fort Calhoun and Arlington girls basketball teams won subdistrict games Monday, advancing to the next round of their respective brackets.
Kenzie Hansen scored 16 points and Tess Skelton had 15 as the Pioneers (8-15 overall) defeated Omaha Concordia, 50-47, in Wahoo at the Class C1 Subdistrict 4 Tournament. Abbie Anderson scored the winning points from the foul line over the final minute.
Coach Marty Plum's team is now scheduled to face the tourney host, top-seeded Wahoo (12-9), on Tuesday. The game is set to tip off at 5:30 p.m.
Arlington (9-13), meanwhile, bested Logan View/Scribner-Snyder 39-26 on Monday during the Subdistrict 5 Tournament at North Bend Central. The Eagles started the fourth period on a 7-0 run, putting away the Raiders and advancing to 6 p.m. Tuesday's semifinals game against the host Tigers (18-3).
After it defeated Schuyler on Monday afternoon in Blair, South Sioux City (9-14) will face the top-seeded, Class B Subdistrict 5 host Bears (13-7) on Tuesday. The contest is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Monday's Fort Calhoun game had a time change due to extreme temperatures, so, with a similar forecast Tuesday, scheduled game times are subject to change.
