Storm drops 6-8 inches of snow in county

The first real blast of winter in Washington was fast and furious.

The storm, which began early Tuesday morning, dropped 6 to 8 inches of snow around the county. The National Weather Service in Valley reported 7.6 inches of snow in Fort Calhoun, while Blair had 6 inches.

Road crews struggled to keep up as the storm swept through the county and travel was not advised.

While the precipitation wreaked havoc on the roads, some Blair children found it ideal to hit the sledding hill at Steyer Park. Sydney, Hannah and Olivia Wolff took some wild rides as they enjoyed the newly-fallen snow
