Stirek, Truhlsen lead BHS golf at home

Chaffee then shoots low score in Oakland

Seventeen Blair Bears played their home course Thursday as coach Ross Udey's team hosted North Bend Central, Oakland-Craig and West Point-Beemer.
Five BHS varsity players earned third during the River Wilds Golf Club quadrangular. They combined for 191 strokes over nine holes under a sunny sky, but with a consistent wind blowing.
Jake Stirek and Cole Truhlsen led the Bears with 46 swings apiece. Stirek shot par on five holes.
Easton Chaffee, meanwhile, shot a 47, and both Cole Wilkins and Ben Hagedorn carded 52s.
In junior varsity competition, Blair's Adam Grote shot the low score. He had 50 strokes over nine holes, Luke Ladwig notched 55 and Tyler Lantry added 58 to the Bears' 223 total. Landen Oppliger and and Kalvin Lorenzen added 60s, respectively.
Blair's Eli Bush (53 strokes), Sam Hicks (56), Kyle Studanski (57), Xander Miller (58), Duston Anderson (58), Ryan Ray (61) and Kaleb Loftus (62) played the front nine holes at River Wilds, too.

Bears play 18 in Oakland
Five Bears played 18 more holes Saturday at Oakland Golf Club. They finished with ninth at the 19-team tourney with 364 strokes.
Chaffee shot the team low for coach Ross Udey, taking 85 swings. He shot a 43 on the front nine holes before carding 42 strokes on the back.
Hagedorn added an 88, shooting his own 42 on the front nine, while Grote finished with 93 strokes. Wilkins notched a 98 and Truhlsen had a 103.
BHS next competes 9 a.m. today during the Eastern Midlands Conference Tournament at Indian Creek Golf Course in Elkhorn.
