Stanley Arnold Heyden died April 13, 2021, in Blair.

Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Reach Church (formerly Country Bible Church) at 11 a.m..

Stanley was born to Arnold and Milda Heyden in Cresco, Iowa, on Jan. 29, 1946. He graduated from North Central Community High School in 1964. He enlisted with the U.S. Navy in the same year as a submariner. Later he would go on to achieve Machinist’s Mate and earn his Dolphins in 1970. While he was in the Navy he got his pilot’s license. He enjoyed camping with his family and visited many of the National Parks around the U.S. One of his favorite past times was woodworking and tool collecting. He was very involved with his church, serving in the Awana program for 25 years, a part of the Prayer Warrior team and Stephen Ministries.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Myrna and his three children; Mark Heyden, Aaron Heyden and Heather DeWolf (significant other) and Sarah and Randy Marcum of Tucson, Ariz., two grandchildren; Sophie and Lara, his siblings; Kenneth and Ruth Heyden, Carol and David Huebner, Joyce and Ken Kleven, Marilyn and Gus Engels, Gloria and Greg Friedrich, David Heyden, Paul and Linda Heyden, and Brian Condon, along with his in-laws; Don and Pearl Rathjen and Melvin and Joyce Rathjen, along with many beloved nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Arnold Heyden, Mother Milda Willis, step-father Wayne Willis, his sister Grace Condon, sister in law Lori Heyden, niece Denise Rathjen, and his father and mother-in-law Ray and Elsie Rathjen.
