AHS grad earns All-GPAC baseball honors
Former Arlington Eagle Andy Theiler earned first-team All-Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball honors May 18.
The Doane Tiger was one of four outfielders chosen, claiming his spot with a .359 batting average as of the school release announcing the recognition. The junior also leads his college team with 57 runs scored.
Theiler notched eight doubles, six triples and 14 home runs during the spring with 51 RBIs. He had a .682 slugging percentage, .419 on-base percentage and a team-best 17 stolen bases.
Doane earned a shared championship in league play this season.

Cubs go 1-1-1 during Bash
The age 12 and younger Blair Cubs baseball team went 1-1-1 during its recent home tourney — the Bash.
The Cubs capped tournament play May 16 with a 9-4 loss to the Columbus Outlaws despite two Lane Christensen hits. Brevin Leggott and Tucker Storjohann also notched hits during the game.
On May 15, Blair defeated the Northeast NE Crush 8-7. Storjohann and Jaxon Logan each notched hits after the Cubs tied their previous game 7-7 against the Columbus Mariners. Ty Tessendorf and Nate Murray also had hits in that Bash opener.

Archery club to host annual shoot
Orion Archery Club of Blair will hosts its annual Brandon Tomcak Memorial 3-D Shoot on June 6 at the Lake Cunningham Outdoor Archery Range in Omaha.
The 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. event is geared toward children, old and young, who may be experienced or beginners. Instruction and equipment will be provided to all who attend.
