Speed a factor in semi rollover crash in Blair

Blair police have identified the driver of a semi-tractor trailer that overturned April 30 dumping a load of corn in Blair.

The accident happened at about 9 a.m. at the intersection of 19th and Washington streets. Blair police and Blair Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.

BPD Capt. Travis Lyon identified the driver as Torrey L. French of Omaha. French was headed south on 19th Street, turning east when the load shifted, causing the truck and trailer to overturn.

Speed was a factor in the crash. French was cited for careless driving and load spillage.

The intersection was closed for several hours as workers from Mathiesen Grain vacuumed the corn into another trailer and the semi was righted and removed.
