In May, Blair Special Olympics competed in track and field during the State Summer Games in Omaha. Bears James Trevarthen, Larry McDonald, David Harkey and April Ward all earned first-place finishes.
Harkey claimed two, winning the 400- and 800-meter walks in his age groups.
Trevarthen, meanwhile, won his 100, while McDonald won his 100 walk. Ward was first in a 50-meter wheelchair race.
Trevarthen also added a fourth-place attempt in the softball throw as McDonald claimed fifth with his own effort. Ward earned a fifth in the softball throw, too.
Matthew Dryden, meanwhile, was second in the softball throw and fifth in the 100. Bradley Dunham was second in the 100, while Jerry Clift was second in the mini javelin and third in the 100 walk.
Wayne Boggs was third in the 400 walk and fourth in his mini javelin event.
