Arlington and Blair softball players, and BHS volleyball players, were recently recognized with postseason honors.
The Omaha World-Herald released its all-state softball teams last Sunday, while the Bears' Eastern Midlands Conference revealed its honorees, too.

Bears' McMillen earns 2nd-team spot
Replicating their honors from the Lincoln Journal Star earlier this month, Blair softball players Nessa McMillen, Tessa Villotta, Leah Chance and Brooke Janning were noted as Omaha World-Herald honorees.
McMillen, a sophomore infielder, claimed second-team Class B recognition. She hit at a .469 average this fall with a team-best 38 RBIs.
Villotta, Chance and Janning, meanwhile, received honorable mention. Villotta, a junior South Dakota recruit, had six homers this past season, while Chance scored 33 runs and Janning — a freshman — hit .423.
The four World-Herald honorees also claimed recent recognition from the Eastern Midlands Conference (EMC) alongside teammates Jerzie Janning and Kalli Ulven. Janning, Ulven, Brooke Janning and Chance were honorable mentions, while McMillen and Villotta are first-teamers.
Coach Jennifer Fangmeier's Bears were 16-13 this past season.

Brenn leads AHS' honorees
Arlington senior softball player Hailey Brenn recently claimed Class C second-team honors with the Omaha World-Herald's release of its all-state teams.
The publication recognized Eagles Brenn, Gracie Herman, Cadie Robinson and Emery McIntosh in last Sunday's newspaper. Brenn was a second-team pitcher, finishing with a 15-13 record and 3.27 ERA. She struck out 143 batters.
The remaining AHS talents received honorable mention for this past season's play. Herman hit six homers, Robinson had 29 hits and McIntosh finished with a team-best .409 batting average.
All four World-Herald honorees were Lincoln Journal Star honorable mention recipients, too. Brenn and Robinson were first-team All-Nebraska Capitol Conference as well.
Coach Janelle Lorsch's Eagles finished the 2021 season during the district finals round. They were 16-15 overall.

EMC honors 3 BHS volleyball players
The Blair High School volleyball team notched a 19-year high with 11 wins this past fall, and Claire Gochanour, Reece Ewoldt and Megan McKeon were key reasons why.
The Bears trio were recently recognized for their efforts with the release of the Eastern Midlands Conference's all-conference teams. Gochanour was BHS' only first team selection, while both Ewoldt and McKeon were honorable mention recipients.
Gochanour, a senior, led the Bears in kills and aces, according to Maxpreps.com, while Ewoldt was her team's set assist leader. McKeon, the senior libero, led BHS with 225 digs.
Class B state runner-up Norris had four first-team all-EMC selections, while Waverly had three, and Elkhorn North, Elkhorn and Bennington had two. Blair went 11-16 this fall, but didn't earn a victory against conference competition.
