Seniors beat juniors in AHS powder puff game

McIntosh, Green score 2 TDs apiece

The Arlington High School seniors surrounded an interviewer Thursday evening and explained how they captured a 28-point powder puff football game victory against the juniors.
Extra effort in the weight room was key, they said tongue-in-cheek.
“We just put our minds to it,” Emery McIntosh said, playing up her two-touchdown performance during the annual sophomore class fundraiser. “Put our best players out there. Ran the ball. Ran until we heard the whistle.”
The senior girls beat the juniors 40-12 as the boys prowled the sideline, offering coaching tips — some helpful and some less than. After quarterback Kiersten Taylor faked a throw, McIntosh scored on a long during the game's very first play.
The Class of 2023 led from there.
“Played better than the other team,” McIntosh said, matter-of-factly.
Cadie Robinson and Keelianne Green scored the next two touchdowns, too, as the 12th-graders built a 20-0 lead. Junior Taylor Arp cut into that advantage with her own score before Austyn Flesner intercepted a pass and later tallied a touchdown run, pulling the 11th-graders within 20-12.
After the junior and senior boys performed an elaborate dance at halftime, though, the winning team went on a 20-point scoring streak to close the game. McIntosh scored on a pass from Taylor before Green did, too. The QB then scored on a run to finish out the win, setting off the seniors' celebration.
“I believe that we just won,” the 12th-graders chanted as the sun set beyond the west end zone at AHS.
