Rueben Eugene Keller (Gene), age 68, passed away on March 12, 2022, at CHI Bergan Mercy in Omaha, surrounded by his loved ones.
Gene was born July 19, 1953, in Auburn, to Arthur and Norma Jean Keller. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1971, and stationed in Germany to fight in the Vietnam War. He was later discharged in 1973. Gene then came to Blair and worked various jobs, mainly construction and heavy equipment. Later in life, he was a welder and over-the-road truck driver. Gene married the love of his life Kathy on July 5, 1990, and the couple had three children: Gail, Amanda and Derek. Gene loved fishing and spending his free time with family and friends.
Gene is preceded in death by his parents, wife Kathy and granddaughter Elena Jean.
Gene is survived by his children: Gail, Amanda and Derek; grandchildren: Gaby, Savannah, Yovana, Salma and Ace; sisters: Mary Lou, Sharon and Kristi; brothers: Jim and Art; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the Omaha National Cemetery on March 23, 2022, at 11 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held in July.
