POSTSEASON UPDATE: AHS' Taylor qualifies for state golf; BHS softball advances

District competition in golf and softball continued Tuesday with both Arlington and Blair finding success.

The Eagles' Dianna Taylor qualified for state golf with a 10th-place finish at the Class C District 2 Tournament at Oakland Golf Club. The senior shot a 106, while her team took seventh overall.

The Class C State Championships are Oct. 12-13 at Elks Country Club in Columbus.

The Blair girls golf team qualified for the Class B championships on Monday. It will play Oct. 12-13 in Gering.

The Blair softball team, meanwhile, advanced to the Class B district finals Tuesday with an 11-0 win against Omaha Mercy during the subdistrict finals. Freshman Leah Chance had two homers in the game, while Kalli Ulven earned the pitching win.

The Bears' district finals matchup hadn't been posted as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, but Arlington's had. The Eagles will play at Malcolm on Friday in a three-game series to determine which squad will move on to next week's state softball tournament. The first game begins at 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
