Four Washington County volleyball players earned recognition recently as Nebraska Capitol Conference (NCC) all-league teams were unveiled to the public.
Fort Calhoun's McKenna Greenwell was the county's lead vote-getter. The libero earned first-team all-conference status after surpassing 1,000 career digs during her senior season.
Greenwell notched 366 digs as a senior, while also leading the team in service aces with 47. In total, she notched 433 serve receives during the Pioneers' 15-11 season.
NCC second-teamer Chase Andersen, meanwhile, led Arlington with 220 kills this past season. The junior — and multiple-time all-conference performer — also notched 21 aces to go with her team highs in blocks (43) and digs (182), according to maxpreps.com.
Fort Calhoun's Ellie Lienemann joined Andersen on the NCC second team, too. The Pioneers senior notched 201 kills — a team best — to go with 31 aces, 10 blocks and 186 digs. She recently signed her letter of intent to play college volleyball for the Morningside Mustangs in Sioux City, Iowa.
The Eagles' Kailynn Gubbels, meanwhile, earned the 16th-most votes during the all-conference selection process, earning the second-most among honorable mention recipients. The junior notched 177 kills in 2020 to go with 22 blocks and 151 digs. Her 39 aces were a team high at AHS.
In total, 32 NCC volleyball players from 10 schools earned postseason honors. The team was headlined by co-captains Saige Craven of Ashland-Greenwood and Grace Mueller of Raymond Central, who were the top-two vote recipients.
