Students had the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity this week during Camp Invention at Deerfield Primary School.

There were 48 students involved in the STEM-based camp.

The students rotated through a schedule that included four modules: Solar Bot, Duck Chuck, Road Rally and Open Mic. They learned about different inventors and made their own prototypes of inventions that they believe will help improve the world.

“Personally, I am excited to see what the children can create,” director Mariann Andersen said. “They learn about a variety of inventors and then get to use their imagination and creativity to construct devices from their upcycled items to complete tasks. There's no right or wrong answer to their creations, it's all through experimenting to see what works and doesn't work.”

Teachers for the camp included Brittney Petersen, Mallory Brandt and Sarah Nelson. Other helpers called leadership interns and leaders in training were Derek Wong, Ted Leuders, Jakob Andersen, Josie Ulrich, Jaron Zurek, Crayton Macholan and Judson Cloudt.
