Patti (Monson) Krysl passed away peacefully on Aug. 10, 2021, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Blair.

Patti was born to Phyllis and Clifford Monson on Dec. 16, 1950, in Torrance, Calif. Patti moved to Irwin, Iowa, as a teenager to live with her stepfather Orval Monson, and then attended Dana College in Blair, where she married her first husband, Carl, and had her first daughter. After their divorce, she married her second husband and the love of her life in 1978.

Patti was a talented artist and a free spirit. She worked for the Enterprise Publishing Company for many years as a graphic designer, after going back to college as an adult. She taught herself how to build websites and read computer code in her forties, while raising her family. Patti also had a love of the outdoors, especially all animals and gardening. She was a talented fisherwoman, baker, poet, and seamstress.

Patti had a gentle, kind nature, and a sharp wit. She loved being a mom and grandmother, and often said that the best time of her life was when she was raising her kids. She was someone that people loved to talk with, and she will be deeply missed.

Patti will be remembered forever and loved by her husband of 43 years, Vince Krysl; her children, Eve (Joel) Willadsen-Jensen, Vince (Lydia) Krysl, Jr., Adrienne (Mitch) Eickman, and Renee (Jon) Zahourek, in addition to her six grandchildren (Amasa, Triston, Landon, Maren, Gavin, and Matilda), and her many friends and relatives.

Patti’s life will be celebrated at First Lutheran Church on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021, at 1 p.m., with visitation prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.
