New variant cases, two deaths in Washington County

Three Rivers Public Health Department announced 13 new variant cases on Wednesday, 11 of which are the COVID-19 B.1.1.7 variant (also known as the United Kingdom UK variant) and two of which are the B.1.429 variant (also known as the California variant). Of the 13 new variant cases, five are Dodge County residents, two are Saunders County residents and six are Washington County residents.  To date within Dodge County, there have been eleven total variants, eight B.1.1.7 and three B.1.429.  Washington county has identified a total of twelve B.1.1.7 variants. In Saunders county, one P.1 variant and two B.1.1.7 variants have been identified.   

They are reporting three new deaths related to COVID-19. One Dodge County man in his 80s and two Washington County residents, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 70s. This brings the total death count to 77 deaths in Dodge County, 20 deaths in Saunders County, and 26 deaths in Washington County for a total of 123 deaths in the 3RPHD health district.
