Monte Ray Montanye Sr., 67, passed away peacefully at his home in Killeen, Texas, on April 11, 2023.
Monte was born Feb. 9, 1956, to Harlan and Verna Sutherland Montanye in Sioux City, Iowa.
Monte graduated from Blair High School in 1974. He then joined the army. After his military service he settled in Killeen.
He recently retired from maintenance from the city of Killeen. He was known as Mr. "Fix-It."
Mont is survived by his wife Marita Zellmar whom he married March 17, 2023. His mother Verna Kuhr; one son, Monte Ray Montanye Jr. and wife Marie of Killeen; one daughter, Cheryl Linn and husband Steve of Georgia; step-daughters Jennifer Zellmar and April Nesslein and husband Jay; three brothers, Craig Montanye, and husband AJ of Holland, Mich., Rick (Rat) Kuhr and Mike Kuhr of Blair; two sisters, Betty Montanye Munson and husband Rob of Blair, Brenda Kuhr Beatty-Funk and husband Todd of Ceresco and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-father Melvin Kuhr and one brother Lee Montanye.
