An accident involving three semi-tractor trailers caused minor injuries and closed down state Highway 91 near County Road 9 on Monday morning north of Arlington.

Washington County sheriff's deputies, Nebraska State Patrol and Arlington and Nickerson rescue personnel responded to the crash around 10:30 a.m.

The three vehicles were westbound when the lead vehicle attempted to turn left off the highway to dump his load. The driver of the second truck didn't realize the first truck was stopping, made some maneuvers to avoid hitting the vehicle and rolled, Sgt. Shane Thallas said.

"The third truck in line saw what was happening and drove into the ditch to avoid a collision," he said. "He ended up in the field."
Thallas said the driver of the semi that rolled was checked by medical personnel and refused transport. The driver of the first vehicle was transported with non life-threatening injuries and no one was injured in the third vehicle.

The road was expected to be closed for some time.
