Mildred Nixon, 91

Mildred L. Nixon, age 91, passed away April 16, 2021, at Carter Place in Blair. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 21, at 10 a.m. at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church. Graveside services will follow in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 20, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5 to 8 p.m.

Mildred was born on Oct. 17, 1929, the daughter of Joe and Ida Stratbucker. She lived her entire life on the farm. When she was young, she helped her family grow vegetables for the farmers market in Omaha. She attended Slader Grade School and Fort Calhoun High School. After graduation, she worked at the Omaha National Bank. She married Joeseph Nixon on Dec. 20, 1947, and they farmed in the area growing corn, beans, cattle, and chickens. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her family. She also worked a number of years at Wilkinson Manufacturing in Fort Calhoun and Klopps Jewelry in Blair. Milly was a lifelong member of Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church, a 70-year member of Fort Calhoun’s Order of The Eastern Star and belonged to the Coffman Club, a social group of women in the community, making life long friends.

She is survived by daughter, Karen Andersen (Ron); son, Dan Nixon (Bev); grandsons, Todd Andersen (Shelly), Chad Nixon (Jennifer), Cory Nixon (Carrie); great-grandchildren, Bailey, Maggie, Chase, Robbie, Kyle, Grant, Gage, Colton, Greyson and Emma. She was preceded in death by husband, Joe, and son-in-law, Terry Andersen; grandson, Mark Andersen; granddaughter, Heidi Nixon; brother, Bill E. Stratbucker, and his wife, Marjorie.
