Lorraine A. Mencke, age 81, passed away April 17, 2023, at County House in Elkhorn. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 10 a.m., at Campbell Aman Funeral Home in Blair. Graveside services will follow in the Blair Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, April 21, 2023, at Campbell Aman Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Lorraine was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Blair, the daughter of Axel and Emma Hansen. Lorraine attended March School through the tenth grade; she then attended and graduated from Blair High School in 1958. After high school, Lorraine attended Wayne State College, earning her teaching certificate. She taught country school for a few years before she was married to Darlow Mencke. To this union two sons were born. Over the years, Lorraine worked at Aluma Décor, Ray Ryder and Associated Accounting, and then for a number of years at Great Plains Communication until her retirement. Even during her retirement years, she continued working at several different places. Lorraine enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, baking for her loved ones and spending time at the farm.
Lorraine is survived by her sons: Jeff (Diane) of Omaha, Troy of Blair; grandchildren: Lauren (Bill) Citro of Omaha, Ross (Jenna) Mencke of Wisconsin, Jill Mencke of Oklahoma; great-grandchildren: Brody, Norah, and Robbie; sister Lila Gosker; along with many extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie Novak and Esther Fischer.
