LEGION UPDATE: Eagle Seniors win district, qualify for state; Post 348 falls short

The Arlington Senior Legion baseball team beat Waterloo-Valley on Tuesday in West Point, earning the Class B Area 3 Tournament title and qualifying for the state tournament in Crete.
The Eagles won 8-2 with pitcher Braden Rump throwing all seven innings. The victory was the left-hander's second of the tournament as coach Ed Menking's squad went 4-1, Friday through Tuesday.
Waterloo-Valley earned its finals game against Post 71 with an 8-6 victory over Fort Calhoun earlier in the evening. The Pioneers led 4-1 going into the final inning, but ended the season with a 10-14 season record. Coach Brandon Wynn's squad was 3-2 in postseason play.
Next, Arlington unofficially begins state play 1 p.m. Saturday in Crete.
