The Blair Senior Legion baseball team finished off its 5-0 sweep through the Area 3 Tournament on Tuesday, qualifying for the Class B state tourney in Broken Bow.
The Post 154 Bears won 6-1 against Elkhorn Training Camp/Mount Michael at Vets Field, improving to 19-16 overall. It was their second win of the tournament over the Knights. Coach James Bilslend's squad also topped Fort Calhoun, Arlington and Waterloo Valley on their way to the finals.
Blair pitcher Tyler Andersen beat the Post 348 Pioneers in the tournament opener, but also won Tuesday's game. He threw six innings before Lee Chavez-Lara stepped onto the mound for the seventh.
In a bases-loaded situation to close the game, Bears third baseman Nate Wachter fielded a grounder, stepped on the bag and threw the ball to Dylan Swanson on first base for the final out.
Wachter, Greyson Kay and Kaden Fletcher all knocked in runs to win the tourney-clinching game.
Next, the Class B state tournament starts Saturday in Broken Bow. First-round matchups were undetermined as of Tuesday night.
