Legion Baseball Roundup: Blair Seniors' comeback falls short

Posted

Kaden Fletcher tallied game-highs in hits and RBIs, but his Blair Senior Legion baseball team's late comeback fell short Tuesday at Elkhorn Mount Michael.
The pitcher, who also notched three strikeouts against the Knights, had three hits and three RBIs during the Bears' 6-5 road loss. They fell to 3-7 this season in defeat.
Post 154 entered the final inning trailing 6-3. Tyler Andersen and Nolan Osterhaus reached base before Mount Michael recorded back-to-back outs.
Before the Knights could end the game in a win, however, Fletcher and TJ Swaney at-bats resulted in two runs. Conner O'Neil was next, drawing a full-count walk to load the bases, before the game finally ended in the home team's favor.
During the first game of the Junior-Senior Legion doubleheader, Blair suffered its first loss, 10-8. The Post 154 Juniors team is 6-1.

Arlington Seniors win at home, 8-0
The Arlington Senior Legion team improved to 3-4 Monday with an 8-0 victory at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
The Eagles notched just two hits, but took advantage of Hooper/Scribner pitching woes to win by run rule. They walked nine times and were hit by four pitches.
Nick Smith led Arlington with a double, while Aiden Foreman had a single and Josh Miller notched a sacrifice fly. Foreman and Tanner Pittman split pitching duties as well, combining for four strikeouts.

Post 71 Juniors compete at weekend tourney
The Arlington Juniors played three games, June 4 through Sunday, in a Waterloo/Valley tournament.
The Eagles won their first two games before dropping the 19-13 Sunday contest to Elmwood-Murdock. Darren Olson led his team at the plate, batting 3-for-6 with three RBIs. Braden Monke was 2-for-4 and Smith was 2-5 with a triple.
A day earlier against Yutan, Arlington picked up a 11-2 win in five innings. Trevor Denker hit a homer and a triple for the Eagles, while Smith scored three runs.
Tyler Ott earned the pitching win, allowing just three hits and striking out six.
To start the tournament, Smith went 5-for-5 during a 12-3 win. Monke scored four times and Dustin Kirk had two hits.

Fort Calhoun Juniors fall at Yutan
The Fort Calhoun Junior Legion baseball team fell at Yutan on Tuesday, 11-3.
The Pioneers threw several pitchers during the course of the game and were unable to put together enough hits of their own to score the runs needed to keep up.
“Pitched a bunch of guys who haven't really pitched before, so lots of walks,” Post 348 coach Brandon Wynn said. “Didn't even give up a hit until the fifth inning, which was the last we played.”
