Arlington senior guard Logan Kaup scored the game-winning hoop Wednesday as the Eagles basketball team finished third in Lincoln Lutheran's holiday tourney.
No. 12 hit a runner with 6 seconds remaining to push AHS (4-4 overall) past Fairbury (5-4), 38-36, during the defense-leaning affair. Coach Tyler Spitser's squad led 22-17 going into the fourth quarter before the teams combined for 35 points over the final 8 minutes.
Kaup scored a game-high 14 points, including 10 of the Eagles' 16 in the final period. Barrett Nielsen added nine points, while both Colby Grefe and Nick Smith had five.
Fairbury's Jax Biehl tied Kaup for the game-high, leading the Jeffs with 12 during their 19-point fourth. It was two more points than they'd scored during the first three quarters.
Arlington returns home 7:30 p.m. today for a game with Wisner-Pilger.
