Logan Kaup followed up Dec. 29th's winning shot with a winning effort Tuesday at Arlington High School.
The Eagles senior scored 31 points on his home floor, pushing coach Tyler Spitser's team past Wisner-Pilger, 56-44. The guard made eight buckets inside the 3-point arc, two from outside it and went 9-for-11 from the foul line as AHS improved to 5-4 overall.
Less than a week after hitting the game-winning shot against Fairbury, Kaup led Arlington to an 18-13 lead after one quarter with 14 first-period points. The Eagles then led 30-26 at the halftime break, and 42-37 after three quarters, before putting the game away with a 14-7 fourth.
Overall, just three AHS players scored for coach Spitser against the 4-5 Gators. Colby Grefe added 14 points, while Dustin Kirk notched 11.
Beau Ruskamp, meanwhile, led Wisner-Pilger with 13 points in defeat.
Arlington next competes today at Raymond Central before Saturday's game at Fremont Bergan. The varsity games start at approximately 7:30 and 6 p.m., respectively.
