Joshua R. Schweinfurth, 31, passed away on June 4, 2022. He was born in Omaha on Nov.17, 1990. He attended elementary, middle and high school in Blair.

Growing up, he enjoyed playing baseball and also was in the scouts for many years.
Joshua lived with Schizophrenia for 13 years after his diagnosis at the age of 18.

He leaves behind his mother and step-dad, Shari and Steve Strong (Bennington), as well as his sister, Ambir Leehy (Omaha), who loved him dearly and were amazed by him everyday!

He also leaves behind his two nephews; Tyson Leehy and Kaden Haack, three nieces; Payten Leehy, Isabella Haack and Theda Kauffman whom he loved so much!

Other family members are Jamie Hansen (sister- Lincoln), Leonard and Jeanette Klasi (Grandparents, North Sioux City, S.D.) and Vivian Schweinfurth (Grandparent, Wis.), and too many extended family and friends to list from Neb., S.D., Iowa, Tenn., Colo., Minn. and Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Wade R. Schweinfurth (Blair), Ralph Schweinfurth (Grandfather, Kalona, Iowa) and Brian Schweinfurth (Uncle, Iowa City, Iowa).

“Josh was known for his enormous heart, listening ear, funny stories and his passion and love for Jesus…” A Celebration of Life will be held for Josh at Stonebridge Church, 158th and Butler (3 blocks north of 156th and Maple), Omaha, on June 18, 2022. 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. is Family and Friends Share and Lunch and from 12:30 to 2:00 p.m. is open visitation. All are welcome to both.
