Jim Hill, 92

Posted

Our father, Jim Hill, passed away peacefully to his eternal home to Jesus, at 92 years young. He was born in Lincoln, where he lived most of his life. He was a successful life insurance agent for Equitable and Midland National Life, where he earned numerous awards for top sales achiever. He loved Nebraska agriculture. He was a “city slicker farmer” where he rented farm pastures and pursued his passion of raising registered black angus cattle forming Jim Hill Angus in 1952. He earned the Historic Angus Herd Award in 2008 for raising registered angus for 56 years!

Our Dad was one of a kind! He taught us to see beauty in everything our eyes could see. He had a twinkle in his eyes that made him a people magnet. He knew no stranger. His hometown of Lincoln and his alma mater inflicted his love for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He had an uncanny memory for stats and players accomplishments. “Go Big Red!”

Family meant everything to our Dad and he will be deeply missed. “Thank God for our many blessings and count them one by one” was one of his many quotes. He had accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior, and this comforts us. Our Dad has been promoted and Heaven is rejoicing!

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Bernice (Marts) Hill, brother Richard “Dick” Hill, and companion Louis Rafferty.

He is survived by his former spouse Mary (Hill) Fitch of Blair; and their six children Cynthia (Neil) Tranel of Bigfork, Mont.; James “Jim” (Terese) Hill Jr. of Fremont; Karen (Scott) Lamberson of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Nancy Schultz of Largo, Fla.; Linda Mayuiers of Largo, Fla.; Maria (Jeff) Bledsoe of Blair. He also had 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of life service will held on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lincoln Berean Church, 6400 S 70th St., Lincoln, NE 68516. Please go to the north entrance, which has a cross on the roof. A light lunch will be served. Please honor our dad by wearing any Husker apparel if you wish. Please join us and share any “Jim Hill” stories you may have!
