Gerald Foley

Gerald Eugene Foley (Jerry) passed away on Sept. 24, 2021, in Olathe, Kan.

Born in 1934 to Robert and Alma Foley in Blair, he grew up on the family farm south of Blair along with six older brothers and sisters.

In 1956, Gerald joined the Army and served in Germany. There he learned to drive tanks, he received expert Sub-Machine gun level status, and earned the Good Conduct Medal.

In 1960, Gerald married Donna Jean Conrad from Blair and made their home in Blair. Gerald and Donna owned Foley Oil Company a gasoline station with a tank wagon service to farmers in the surrounding area. Throughout his life he worked as an expert mechanic and could fix any engine!

Gerald and Donna raised four children. Gerald was a beloved husband and father, raising his children to be strong and independent, and always treating everyone he encountered with respect and care. He had a special soul and was a very kind individual.

Gerald was greeted in heaven by his parents; his sisters; and 2 brothers who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Foley; his children, Sherry, Patrick, Jan and her husband Tom, and Suzanne; along with his grandchildren, Michayla and Micah; brother, James (Jim) Foley of Blair; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Foley.

His memorial service will be held at St. Paul Catholic Church in Olathe on Thursday Sept. 30, 2021, at 1:30 p.m.. The Memorial service will be immediately followed by a reception at the home of Jan and Tom Duffy.
