A garage was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon in Blair.

Blair police and Blair, Kennard and Fort Calhoun fire and rescue personnel responded to the blaze near 21st and Washington streets around 3:15 p.m.

Firefighters reported smoke and flames as they approached.

The fire spread from the garage to a nearby house and another garage. Firefighters quickly knocked down the flames. However, just before 4 p.m., the structure was still smoking.

“It knocked down the power line so we were a little delayed at first but once we got the power out we got it put out,” Blair Fire Chief Dave Aten said. “We are waiting on the fire marshal to determine what happened.”

No injuries were reported.

Washington Street, which is also state Highway 91, was closed down while firefighters battled the fire.
