Led by two freshmen, the Fort Calhoun girls basketball team dominated Plattsmouth on Saturday, 44-26.
The Pioneers outscored the Blue Devils 13-2 during the first period and led 26-7 at halftime, cruising to the 18-point victory. The win pushed coach Marty Plum's squad to 2-4, while Plattsmouth dropped to 0-3.
Freshmen Maddy Tinkham and Bria Bench led Fort Calhoun in scoring with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Both were career highs six games into their high school careers.
Tinkham sunk seven foul shots and knocked down a 3-pointer during the fourth period. Bench, meanwhile, had two second half 3s to go with three 2-point buckets during the Pioneers' second win of the young season.
In addition to its ninth-grade scoring leaders, FCHS senior Kenzie Hansen added seven points. Abbie Anderson had five, Katie Barta had four and Raegen Wells notched two for the victors.
The win came in Fort Calhoun's final game before the holiday break. It next plays Dec. 29 during a holiday tourney on the Pioneers' home court.
