Fort Calhoun dance team prepares for performances

FCHS claims honors at summer camp, too

The Fort Calhoun High School dance team is currently preparing multiple dances for halftime performances this football season.
“The girls have also been putting in extra work, and had multiple choreography sessions, to learn our state routines that we will compete with at the state dance competition in February,” coach Miranda Weingaertner said.
During the summer, the Pioneers worked toward those events by attending a Universal Dance Association (UDA) camp in Lincoln. Weingaertner said they collected 24 blue superior ribbons, four spirit sticks and a superior trophy for their performances. They were the first team to claim a super spirit stick, too.
The FCHS roster includes a drill-down queen and two All-Americans from that camp work as well. Overall, the team earned a bid to UDA nationals in Orlando with their efforts.
