The Innovation and Ovation show choir performance for  parents and family members Saturday marked the first live performance on the Blair stage since last February.

Innovation Choir Director Kori Archbold said the students were extremely happy to have the chance to perform for the first time in so many months.

“By finding ways to sing as safe as possible, their attitude and work-ethic remained strong, and the results… were apparent,” she said.

Throughout the evening participants and spectators followed the established show choir performance protocols, which included 100 percent masking and social distancing. Following the guidelines, the audience departed from the auditorium for an “aeration break” before the Innovation performance. Blair High School Choir Director Kirk Schjodt said that such breaks to literally clear the air are just part of a routine school day.

The Innovation Show Choir performed medleys of seven songs and concluded with number, “Home We’ll Go.” Schjodt said he had not had much of a chance to gauge student reaction yet, but he described it as a fantastic evening and well received.

He said plans are tentative, but he is hoping to put together and host performance exchanges with groups from other schools.

While circumstances could change, the plans are to hold the annual pops concert as scheduled in March.
