The Fort Calhoun softball team outscored Raymond Central 3-1 over the last three innings Monday, but couldn't quite pull off a road upset of the 12-10 Mustangs.
The Pioneers fell to 4-11 this season, 4-3.
FCHS pitcher Anna Taylor threw six innings, allowing just six hits and two earned runs in defeat. She struck out two batters and walked just one.
Offensively, Taylor notched two RBIs, while senior Maddie Reed notched one. Kaylee Taylor, Addie Benoit, Katie Barta and Reed had two hits apiece, too.
Raymond Central pushed across the go-ahead run during the bottom of the sixth inning before the Pioneers earned two base runners during the last-chance, top of the seventh. Samantha and Sophie Thomas both walked before two flyouts and a strikeout ended the game.
FCHS was scheduled to play at Arlington on Thursday and next competes during Saturday's Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament in Valley.
