FCHS softball earns road win

The Fort Calhoun softball team beat Logan View/Scribner Snyder in just five innings Monday night.
The 8-0, run-rule road win came with a 10-4 advantage in hits for coach Mandy Taylor's team. Kaitlyn Welchert, Addie Benoit and Izzy Greenough notched two apiece, while Welchert, Benoit, Adriana Hernandez and Greenough also finished with two RBIs each. Anna Taylor — the game's winning pitcher with five strikeouts — knocked in a run, too.
The Pioneers also produced on the basepath, stealing four bases. Kaylee Taylor, Greenough, Anna Taylor and Bryanna Bender tallied one apiece.
FCHS was scheduled to play Thursday at Ashland-Greenwood and next competes in two games Saturday in Leigh before the Class C-1 Subdistrict Tournament on Monday. Postseason matchups were not available as of press time.
