FCHS softball closes out regular season with win

Pioneers beat West Point-Beemer 12-0

The Fort Calhoun softball team scored nine runs during the final half-inning of the regular season Saturday, besting West Point-Beemer 12-0 during NEN's triangular.
After a 14-0, three-inning loss to their hosts, the Pioneers scored three runs during the first inning against the Cadets. Sam Brewer was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded before Anna Taylor delivered a 2-RBI knock.
Coach Mandy Taylor's squad was then held scoreless in the second inning before ending the game by run-rule in the third. Kaylee Taylor led things off with a double.
Later, Addie Benoit hit into a two-run error, pushing Fort Calhoun's lead to 5-0. Bella Benoit notched an RBI single, Adriana Hernandez put the ball in play for another run-scoring error and Kaylee Taylor walked with the bases loaded to further increase the lead.
Senior Maddie Reed then recorded a run-scoring Pioneers triple before the 12th run of the ballgame scored on an error. FCHS improved to 5-15 with the win.
