FCHS girls basketball holds Concordia to 14 points

The Omaha Concordia girls basketball team scored 55 points against Boys Town and 39 against Omaha Roncalli to start the season, but managed just 14 Tuesday against Fort Calhoun.
The Pioneers held the Mustangs to one first-half point, five during the third period and just eight more in the fourth, earning a 31-14 road victory. The win was Marty Plum's first as FCHS head coach.
While Concordia hit just one first-half foul shot, Fort Calhoun scored 17 points over the same amount of time. Freshman Maddy Tinkham (four points), Bria Bench (two) and Rianna Wells (two) combined for eight points during the first period before Tess Skelton notched seven in the second.
Abbie Anderson also tallied a second-quarter bucket as the Pioneers built a 16-point advantage going into the break.
Overall, Skelton finished with a game-high eight points, while Bench had seven. Anderson notched six, and both Wells and Tinkham added four.
The win pushed FCHS' record to 1-2 this season. Coach Plum's team next plays at Douglas County West tonight.
