The Fort Calhoun baseball team played three scoreless innings on the road Thursday afternoon before the home team took over.
Central City/Fullerton/Centura scored 12 fourth-frame runs before beating the Pioneers in five by run rule, 13-3. The loss dropped FCHS to 3-5, while the Kernels improved to 7-1.
Calhoun coach Roy Prauner said Justin Myer and Ty Hallberg stood out for their play in defeat. Myer struck out six Central City batters in three innings on the mound, while Hallberg hit a triple. Myer had two hits and an RBI as well.
The loss was the Pioneers' second straight. Up until Thursday, FCHS hadn't lost two games in a row this season.
