Gilmore, Miller combine for 4 pins

Arlington senior wrestlers Josh Miller and Hunter Gilmore made quick work of their Elkhorn North and Antler opponents Tuesday at Elkhorn High School.
Miller earned two pins at 170 pounds in just 3:07, while Gilmore notched two in 2:06 at 145, but the Eagles went 0-2 without a full dual lineup. The Wolves won 48-21, while Elkhorn earned a 48-29 home victory.
So, while Gilmore and Miller earned four victories in AHS' final action before the holiday break, their teammates earned four more on the Antlers' mat. Though inexperienced compared to their senior leaders, the less-seasoned Eagles believe they are coming along.
“We just started learning a bunch of stuff, but we've got a long ways to go,” 182-pounder Cade Podany said. “Have a lot of potential, too.”
The sophomore, for instance, earned a pin in just 1:46 over Elkhorn North's Cole Ovens. He's just at the start of his first ever wrestling season, relying on his strength as he learns the sport.
“Well, I've learned a lot, like, doubles and all of that,” Podany said. “That's my favorite move.”
JoeSeth McBride, Arlington's 220-pounder, also earned a pin Tuesday night. He moved up a class to heavyweight, worked to a 2-0 advantage through the first period and won by fall in the second.
“I wasn't feeling it before, but then I got that power-half (nelson),” McBride said. “I felt it and I knew (the pin) was there. So, I got him.”
Will Eppenbaugh and Trey Hill also earned victories for the Eagles. Eppenbaugh earned an 8-4 decision against Dillon Drew to cap AHS' dual against North before Trey Hill earned a 3-minute tech fall against Elkhorn's Gabby Ladehoff.
For the night, Arlington went 8-7 in contested matches for the night. The Eagles next compete Tuesday at the Ord Invitational after the NSAA Moratorium ends Sunday.
