The Arlington volleyball team went 2-1 Saturday, earning fifth place at a Raymond Central tournament.
The Eagles lost to Seward, 2-0, but swept both Nebraska City (25-18, 25-16) and Tekamah-Herman (25-12, 25-20). Coach Katarina Nelson's team is 13-7 overall.
AHS started its day with back-to-back 25-15 set losses to the Class B Bluejays, but bounced back with the help of one of its middle hitters, who also plays on the right side.
“Sophomore Austyn Flesner's communication was clutch today,” Nelson said when asked to name a standout from Saturday's three matches.
With their 13 wins, the Eagles are now just three shy of their 2017 total — 16 — with three regular season matches and the Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament to go before subdistrict competition. Arlington notched four consecutive winning seasons from 2014 through 2017, but won just 17 total matches during the three seasons before this one.
AHS hosts Saturday's host, Raymond Central, tonight at 7 p.m.
