Eagles split games at wood bat tourney

The Arlington Senior Legion baseball team began Wakefield/Wayne Wood Bat Tourney play Saturday.
The Eagles started with a 9-2 loss in Wayne against Beresford, S.D., before a 5-1 win in the night cap against the Wahoo Reds in Wakefield.
First, Post 71's Braden Rump and Tanner Pittman scored runs in the seven-run defeat to Wayne. Pittman hit a double and notched an RBI, while Trevor Denker notched a double.
Barrett Nielsen suffered the loss despite throwing 6 2/3 innings and allowing just eight hits. The Eagles committed three errors.
A few hours later, Arlington beat the Wahoo Reds by four. Post 71 scored one run during the second inning, two during the fifth and two more in the sixth to pick up the win win.
The Eagles tournament run continued Sunday. Results will be published in Friday's Arlington Citizen and the Washington County Enterprise.
In a tourney tune-up, the Eagles also played at Wakefield on Wednesday, notching a 10-3 victory. Aiden Foreman pitched all seven innings, picking up the victory with seven strikeouts.
Offensively, Rump scored three times, while Wesley Martens, Pittman and Nick Smith scored two times apiece.

Juniors beat Wakefield
The Arlington Junior Legion team beat Wakefield on Wednesday, too. It earned a 12-2 victory with Smith striking out 10 on the pitching mound.
Braden Monke doubled and scored two runs, while Denker tripled and scored twice.
