A memorial service for Donna Ball will be held Monday, June 9th, at 11 a.m. at Hillside Christian Church located at 1133 N 28th Ave, Blair, NE. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. at the church. Pastor Dave Ludwick will preside over the services. A graveside service will follow at the Blair Cemetery. A meal and time of fellowship will be held at Hillside Christian Church immediately following the graveside service. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
Donna Claire (Reed) Ball passed away while residing at Providence Place Memory Care in Fremont, Nebraska, on June 2, 2025, at the age of 89.
Donna Claire was born to Everett and Claudia Leone (DeLashmutt) Reed in Onawa, Iowa, on April 17, 1936. She was baptized by immersion at Whiting Church of Christ. She attended and graduated from Whiting Consolidated School, in Whiting, Iowa.
Donna worked as a Secretary and Transcriber with Albertson Tool in Sioux City before marriage. Donna was also a second mother to so many friends of her children and students while working in the kitchen with the Blair Public School system for several years after moving to Blair.
On February 1, 1957, Donna married Everett Carleton Ball of Leeds, Iowa, at the Whiting Church of Christ in Whiting, Iowa. Three children were born to this union: Steve Carleton, Michael Everett and Lisa Kaye. While the couple had called Billings, Montana, their home for approximately nine years, Blair has been their home for the past 52-plus years.
Donna, while being a member of the First Christian Church/Hillside Christian Church, served with the women's group and was the organist/pianist for several years. Donna enjoyed all music and any activity that involved music from a very young age. Her love of playing the piano, whether just in her home, for church services and events, to having to watch all music shows on TV, and always having Christian groups, country artists, holiday favorites and even sharing her love of all eras of music with her children, would fill the home from sunup to sundown. She had a love for working and painting ceramics, acrylic pictures and taking care of her home and family.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Claudia Leone Reed, sister Katherine Carlson Willey, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Everett and Ruby Ball.
She is survived by her husband Everett Ball of Blair, NE.; sons: Steve (Bridgitte) Ball, Michael (Janet) Ball; daughter: Lisa Ball Carroll; seven grandchildren: Brad (Shelley) Ball, Kyle Carroll, Emily (Nathan) Refior, Abigail (Colton) Penny, Jennifer (Ryan) Mettler, Lauren (Adam) Aldana, and Kristen (Nick) Young; nine great-grandchildren; sisters: Jeanne Johnson, Colleen Malmberg, Shirley Hatlelid; and several nephews and nieces.
