The Washington County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in identifying a potential suspect in thefts that occurred in Fort Calhoun.

The thefts occurred during the night of June 13. Three unknown people in a newer white four-door Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck broke into several vehicles and stole several items, including credit cards, tools, jewelry and other items. Two vehicles were also stolen.

“They almost immediately took debit cards, credit cards and gift cards down to Omaha and started using them,” Detective Sgt. Brian Beckman said. “While doing so, we were able to get video footage of one suspect.”

Beckman said the one of the suspects used one of the cards at a convenience store and a grocery store in the area of 72nd and Ames streets in Omaha.

Beckman said deputies have recovered a number of the stolen items, including one of the vehicles.

Residents are reminded not to keep valuables in the vehicles and to lock their vehicles.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 402-426-6866.
