The Arlington girls basketball team fell behind Douglas County West 11-3 Friday night.
“You can't do that,” Eagles coach Luke Brenn said.
AHS got back into the game on its home floor, but it fell to the Falcons (10-6 overall) 45-37. The loss dropped Brenn's team to 6-8 this season.
“We got offensive rebounds, but you've got to put the ball back up and put it through the hoop,” Brenn said. “We didn't do that tonight.”
Overall, Arlington was inconsistent scoring the basketball. It'd go cold, but also put together enough buckets to push DC West.
During the second quarter, the Eagles pulled within 14-12 on three-straight scores by Taylor Arp, Kylee Bruning and Kailynn Gubbels. The Falcons responded, however, taking a five-point lead into halftime.
Bruning notched one of Arlington's two 3-pointers in the closing moments of the third period to pull her team within 32-26, but DC West responded again and pushed its advantage to as many as 10 points during the fourth.
“I think we're just as good at times as (the Falcons) are, and we've got to be able to finish shots,” Brenn said. “Tonight we just made too many silly mistakes offensively.”
Gubbels scored 13 points and Bruning had 11 in defeat. The Eagles start Nebraska Capitol Conference Tournament play  6 p.m. Wednesday at Louisville.
