DAAL to reopen June 1

After more than a year, the Danish American Archive and Library (DAAL) will reopen to the public June 1.

The DAAL has been closed since March 26, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Executive Director Jill Hennick said the DAAL will reopen, but with restrictions. Masks and social distancing will be required. To ensure social distancing, the number of people in the building at a time will be limited to 10 in addition to staff.

Those wanting to visit the archive are encouraged to call ahead to be sure the 10-person limit hasn't been reached “especially in the mornings when volunteer slots have been reserved,” Hennick said.

The restrictions will be lifted when CDC guidelines ease.

The DAAL has a vintage postcard exhibit on display through June 30.
