Cool off in July with the 8th annual Christmas in July sponsored by the Washington County Ministerial Association from 5:30-8:30 p.m. July 16 at Steyer Park.

"The event is intended to be a gift to the community," event coordinator Linda Degner said. "We want to bless the community in the name of Jesus and be able to give."

To do that, the use of the pool is being donated. Everyone can get in the pool for free at 7 p.m.

"Prior to that free food, games, crafts, activities, live music and animals like goats, all sorts of fun stuff for the community to hang out and bring a chair," she said. "There's a lot of shade there."

Degner said a lot of different organizations are coming to provide the activities.

"We are asking people to bring non-perishable food for the Washington County Food Pantry if they can," she said. "As we bless the community, we ask the community to bless others. It's not a requirement. Everyone is welcome."

Degner said Christmas in July started as a way to do something for community. She said it started small and has grown each year.

"A few years ago, we gave out 500 hot dogs," she said. "It's an awesome opportunity for people to come out and relax, especially after last year.

If groups want to have an activity, contact Degner at 402-670-5145. There will be nothing sold, but Degner said she wants people to know what's available in the community.

"We are going to have a dance demonstration," she said. "There are all sorts of activities to see what our community is about and bring people together."
