BYSS, Arlington marksmen start trapshooting season

The Eastern Cornhusker Trapshooting Conference (ECTC) season started last weekend with Blair Youth Shooting Sports (BYSS) and Arlington marksmen claiming top finishes.
In Omaha, the Blair Gold Senior team finished fifth overall. Kalvin Kies stood out with his 87-for-100 shoot, tying for the best out-of-100 score of the event. He was also first in the 22-23 yard handicap competition.
BYSS' Jacob Vanek, meanwhile, took out 80 targets, while Morgan Shaner of Fort Calhoun the the Blair Silver squad with a 79-for-100 effort.
In Bellevue, Arlington marksmen helped the Fremont Black team to first-place overall effort. Wyatt Widman led his team with an 86-target showing, while Connor Flesner took out 85 with his shotgun. Cade Arnett broke 85 clay pigeons, too.
Elsewhere, in Junior ECTC competition, Colton Nixon led BYSS' Purple lineup to a fourth-place finish. He was 45-for-50, while Johnny Henton hit 44 targets.
Brayden Stonehocker of Arlington earned fifth for Fremont.
The ECTC season continues through the Gayle Hanshaw All-Conference Shoot on April 22 in Lincoln. The state shoot, the Cornhusker National Invitational in Doniphan, is April 27-29.
BYSS, meanwhile, hosts a ECTC Junior shoot on April 15.
