BVFD hosts fire prevention open house

The Blair Volunteer Fire Department hosted a fire prevention open house Saturday at the North Fire Station.

Children and their families got to meet the firefighters and participate in five different stations, including stop, drop and roll; truck checks; a hose drill; trying on bunker gear; and watching a family exit plan video.

Firefighters hosted the event after they were unable to provide fire prevention presentations in October at Blair schools due to the pandemic.

“It's just our way to keep that message out there,” fire prevention officer Brenda Jenny said.

Jenny said the department is planning something in the spring with the schools.
