Bruce Gordon Smith, father, brother, nephew, cousin and friend, went home to his Heavenly Father around October 12, 2024, in Gulf Breeze, Florida, at the age of 65.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1959, the youngest child of LL Col. C.L. and Marlys (Sorensen) Smith in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended elementary and middle school in Pensacola, FL, and graduated from Blair High School in Blair, Ne in 1977.
He graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelor’s degree in business and supply chain management, then went on to work in the Houston area in procurement for Exxon, Arco, Merichem and Schlumberger.
He married in 1990 and had two children, Meredith and Brent, but the marriage did not last. In 2020, Bruce sold his home in Sugarland, TX, and moved back to his beloved Pensacola area.
He is preceded in death by his parents. His legacy will live on through his children Meredith and Brent Smith, his brother Wes Smith and sister Wendy (Smith) Robinson, and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2025 in Pensacola, FL.
